CATT Researcher Presents at Conference on Modern Mobility

Stanley Young, Ph.D., a researcher at the Center for Advanced Transportation Technology (CATT) located within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park, moderated a conference on modern mobility.

The conference hosted by the Advanced Transit Association, which Young is president of, focused on personal rapid transit (PRT), which consists of a network  of pod-like vehicles on an elevated monorail-like structure with many off-line stations, so trips are non-stop, there is very little waiting, and everyone gets a seat. This conference also marked the end of a two-year study that examined the feasibility of a 27-station PRT system at the Village West development located in western Kansas City, Kansas.
